Opportunities to Serve

Our volunteers are treasured members of the community, and we believe that our volunteers receive many gifts, as they give to others. We rely on volunteers to live out the mission of the New Life Community Outreach.

Special Projects

May include projects such as: changing seasons in the NEW4U Men’s Clothing Store, deep cleaning and inventorying the kitchen and pantry, one-time community meal preparation and/or serving, stuffing a mailing, collecting specific clothing or hygiene item.

Sundays

(5:30 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.) Breakfast Prep Team: Cook & prepare breakfast and set up dining room

(6:30 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.) Kitchen Team: Prepare breakfast, serve breakfast, wash dishes, put way leftover food

(6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.) Hospitality Team: greet, register guests, serve in the dining room, show people to the bathrooms

(6:30 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.) Clothing Room Team: Assist individuals with shopping, restock, check in/check out shoppers, data entry

(6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.) Shepherd Team: engage in Holy listening, offer prayer, connect guests with community resources

(8:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.) Clean-up Team: put away food and supplies, wash dishes, wipe tables.

Tuesdays (9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.)

Clothing Room Team: sort/hang/stock clothing, receive donations, fill orders, fit guests for employment clothing

Office Support Team: answer phone, return calls, enter data and perform other office tasks

Wednesdays (9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)

Clothing Room Team: sort and hang clothing, receive donations, fill orders from referral partners, fit guests for clothing for employment, assist individuals with shopping, check in/check out shoppers, data entry

Office Support Team: answer phone, return calls, enter data and perform other office tasks

Opportunities to serve from home  

prepare breakfast casseroles for Sunday breakfast

graphic design and social media support

organize a clothing drive, shoe drive, hygiene drive, or fundraiser

Location? Volunteer opportunities are predominately held onsite at - Short North Church- 25 West 5th Avenue, Columbus, OH 43201

Parking? Parking will be in the main lot next to the church, and you will receive building access information once you have signed up for your first volunteer experience.

Can minors volunteer? All youth must be accompanied by an adult who will provide supervision at all times.

What to expect before we open for guests? Volunteers and staff gather for sharing joys & concerns, prayer, devotions, announcements and task assignment at 6:45 Sunday mornings and 9:30 Wednesday mornings .
